Give Rdp Rights On Windows 2000

In windows 2000 there is no Remote Desktop user group to give user rights to connect to the server with RDP.

To succesfully give permissions to somebody to remote desktop RDP with MSTSC command do as follow:

  1. Active directory Users and Computers find the specific user and look in the account tab. Find the Log On To button and specify the server where the user should have RDP rights
  2. Create a local group named e.g. Terminal Server Guest (Members can access Desktop by RDP )
  3. Start Terminal Services Configuration from Administrative Tools on the requested server
  4. Right-click the rdp-Tcp connection and select properties
  5. Add the Terminal Server Guest locale group within the permission tab and give only Guest Access
